Chicago Federation of Labor

The Chicago Federation of Labor (CFL) is the central labor body for over 300 Chicago area unions affiliated with the AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor – Congress of Industrial Organizations). The membership of these unions exceeds 500,000.

The CFL was formed in the late 1800s to strengthen the efforts of individual union locals by creating a unified voice for the city’s labor movement.
