Thanks to the tireless efforts of thousands of Vermonters and folks across the country, the resistance to the national GOP’s efforts to destroy healthcare won a temporary success.

Through our calls, letters, public events and town halls, direct actions in Washington, DC, and the sharing of health care stories, we mobilized a massive opposition to the GOP health care agenda.
As a result, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had to abandon his Better Care Reconciliation Act that would strip health care from 22 million Americans, with tremendous fallout for the health and well-being of tens of thousands of Vermonters.

Despite this success, the fight is far from over and our lives are still on the line! McConnell, GOP Congressional leaders, and the Trump administration are forging ahead with various schemes to repeal or undermine the Affordable Care Act and make huge cuts to Medicaid and Medicare in the upcoming budget.

Now more than ever we must resist any proposals that could harm Vermonters (and folks across the country) through the loss of ACA or Medicaid coverage. Together, we must show elected officials in Vermont (from the State House to Congress) that we are standing up for health care as a human right for all Vermonters and all people.

To make our voices heard, Women’s March VT and Rights & Democracy (RAD) are joining our national allies, including Health Care for America Now, Planned Parenthood, Our Revolution, and CPD Action, as well as Vermont groups including Justice For AllVermont Center for Independent LivingVoices for Vermont's ChildrenPlanned Parenthood Vermont Action FundLgbtqia Alliance of VermontVermont GynecologyMain Street Alliance of Vermont and Peace & Justice Center to send a clear message to the Republicans in Congress: Our Lives are on the Line!

Join us on Saturday, July 29, on the eve of the anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare being signed into law, at one of two simultaneous rallies: one on the State House lawn in Montpelier and one in Bennington. Our events will be part of a national day of action with groups across the country. We will be lifting up the stories of Vermonters who would be impacted by the Republican assault on the ACA, Medicaid, and Medicare. We will demonstrate that here in Vermont we are ready to lead the nation in winning universal, publicly and equitably financed, high-quality health care for all.

Bring your three-minute healthcare story to share with the crowd during the speakout portion of the event.
