DCJMC is hosting an event that will focus on providing a healing space for the Muslim community in the DMV area to reflect on the implementation of Muslim Ban 3.0 on the day it goes into effect, but to also debrief on the weight of institutionalized Islamophobia during the Trump presidency in particular - as an overt manifestation of this phenomenon. The evening will include a dinner for attendees, breakout groups with discussion questions, networking, and reflections on what it means to be Muslim at this time and in the United States. The goal of this event is to allow Muslims to grieve and support each other and think about ways to collectively resist the challenges that we face. In addition, the event will include a specific healing component, which will involve healing touch practitioners, massage therapists, and meditation teachers who will also be there to provide individual care for attendees.
