According to the 2013 National Transgender Discrimination Survey, 50% of Trans people in the United States had experienced a sexual assault at some point in the lifetime. Trans people experience extremely high rates of violence, but are often met with discrimination when seeking services. J.D. Melendez will discuss the dynamics of the Trans community and the barriers they face when accessing services. Participants of this training will also learn how they can provide more comprehensive and culturally responsive services.
