Free food!! Resistance building!! Make new friends!! Kid friendly!!

If you're feeling horrified by the news around the country, in Charlottesville, or even here in Lansing* and would like to do something about it, let's get together! Solidarity and Defense is a statewide network organizing against racism, state violence, and all forms of oppression. We’d like to work together to build the capacity to take care of each other and to organize for community self-defense against racism and xenophobia rather than relying on the state or police to do so. We are throwing a barbecue on Wednesday August 30th at 6:30 at Hunter Park on the south side of Kalamazoo East of Pennsylvania. We can have some delicious food, get to know our neighbors, brainstorm various types of problems arising in the community with the current political climate, and work together to create and implement solutions. Bring your ideas!! Bring your friends!! We look forward to seeing you there!! Please mark whether you're planning to attend so we can get a ballpark idea of how much food to bring and please share this event widely!!

* A local Latino man was assaulted by two white men who stapled a note to him that said go back to Mexico and used a slur.
